  Welcome
GeX - Generating XYD - is a free online tool that automates the conversion of species occurrence lists to the XYD file format required by the VNDM software.

  Quick tutorial
To use GeX, simply upload a CSV file with a list of species occurrences using the form above.
The file should:
  • use semicolons (;) as field delimiters
  • have a single header line with labels for the species name, latitude and longitude columns, in this order, as shown in the sample input CSV text file below
  • use decimal geographic coordinates
  • preferably not exceed around 500,000 data points (*see below)
To export data from Microsoft Excel© or LibreOffice, refer to the user manual
If there are any errors (such as out-of-bounds lat or long values, non decimal values, etc), they will be shown. Otherwise, the output species list will be shown, and a XYD file will be made available for download.

*files with close to 500,000 data points or larger might exceed the webhosting server processing capabilities.
In that case, don't hesitate to contact us and we can try to process your data locally.
